Jakes work is centered around the proliferation of digital technology and it's impact on contemporary image making. As a response to the over-saturation of gidital photography, Jake merges conventional photographic practices with digital manipulation and post-processing, using the photographic medium to interrogate and re-contextualise established conventions; as well as embracing the increasing dominance of the digital and the changing role of the image.
I was exploring the effects the fashion industry had on the environment through the context of the fashion image, the first image was a dress made completely from plastic to represent the amount of plastics disposed of during the making and selling process of a piece of clothing lifecycle. This theme was also prevalent when using excess denim and water in my further images. I'm proud of these images because I feel they were turning point in my aesthetic direction for my fashion photography practice.
